Prex’s Two Goals Fuel Men’s Soccer’s Win Over Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore forward Nathan Prex scored two goals in the No. 13 Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team's 3-1 victory over Elizabethtown College on Wednesday at Ira R. Herr Field.

Lebanon Valley (7-1) defeated Elizabethtown (3-3-2, 1-0 Landmark) behind Prex's big game and a strong defensive performance. The Flying Dutchmen jumped out to an early lead on the sophomore forward's goal in the first and took a one-point advantage into halftime. The program got two more points on the board during the second stanza on an own goal and another goal by Prex, helping solidify the program's fifth consecutive win.

The Dutchmen were productive defensively during the first half, holding the Blue Jays to just three total shots and one shot on goal. Senior goalkeeper Dalton Fitterling saved the Blue Jays' first shot on goal of the night, which came with less than five minutes left in the first. On the offensive side, LVC was aggressive throughout the half, taking a total of eight shots.

Lebanon Valley opened the scoring 15:31 into the game, taking an early 1-0 lead over Elizabethtown. Prex delivered the first goal of the night by sending a shot into the lower-right corner of the net, courtesy of an assist by senior Aidan Negron. Neither team would find the net during the remainder of the first half, providing LVC with the advantage going into halftime.

The Flying Dutchmen resumed the scoring early in the second half, extending their lead to 2-0. Negron sent the ball towards the goal and it was misplayed by the Blue Jays' defense, knocking the ball into the back of the net for an own goal. Lebanon Valley then put another tally on the board 62:33 into the contest, as Prex came through with his second goal of the night. This goal was assisted by senior midfielder Connor Given and made it a 3-0 ballgame in favor of the Dutchmen.

The Blue Jays attempted to get back in the game late in the second half, taking a total of 10 shots during the last 45 minutes. Elizabethtown got on the scoreboard with 6:50 to play in the contest, advancing the score to 3-1 LVC on a goal by Aidan Valentine. This would stand as the final score, as neither squad sent a shot to the back of the net during the remaining minutes.
