Prex Nets Goal Number Eight in Big Win Over York

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Three players netted goals for the Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team in its 3-1 victory over York College of Pennsylvania on Wednesday at Herbert Field. Sophomore forward Nathan Prex came through once again for LVC, scoring his team-leading eighth goal of the season during the win.

Lebanon Valley (6-1-0) delivered a balanced effort against York (2-2-2), getting the job done on both sides of the ball. The Flying Dutchmen jumped out to an early lead, finding the net twice during the first half. The Spartans got on the board towards the end of the first stanza, but LVC added an insurance goal in the second half that proved to be enough for the victory. Senior goalkeeper Dalton Fitterling played a key role on the defensive side, making six saves to limit York.

The Dutchmen opened the scoring 13:05 into the game, taking an early 1-0 lead over the Spartans. Prex got the squad started by sending a shot past the goalkeeper and into the right side of the net. The first goal of the afternoon was assisted by graduate student Lucas Strange. Lebanon Valley then put another tally on the scoreboard 25:46 into the contest, extending its advantage to 2-0. Coming off a corner kick that was deflected towards the top of the box, sophomore Aidan Smith powered a goal into the net.

York got on the board 39:57 into the ballgame, trimming LVC's lead to 2-1 on a goal by Matt Martin. Lebanon Valley's defense was effective throughout the first half, limiting the opposition to six total shots and just one shot on goal. The Dutchmen took this one goal advantage into the half.

The Flying Dutchmen resumed the scoring 11:48 into the second half, making it a 3-1 contest in their favor. Strange got a shot past the diving attempt of the goalkeeper and into the lower-left corner of the net, giving LVC a two-goal advantage. The Spartans were aggressive on offense after facing this deficit, taking six total shots and five shots on goal during the remainder of the game. Fitterling was dominant during this stretch, saving each of the shots attempted by the opposition. This strong defensive performance by Lebanon Valley in the final 33:12 helped the squad secure its sixth win of the campaign.
