ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley field hockey team dropped a hard-fought 4-0 decision to 23rd-ranked University of Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon in the home opener at Arnold Field.
Lynchburg (1-0) got on the board early in the first quarter as Ryleigh Cameron was able to redirect a long cross field pass into the back of the cage. The Dutchmen (1-1) nearly scored the equalizer a couple minutes later as
Gracie Johnson had her blast on a corner attempt knocked away from going into the back of the cage. Lynchburg doubled their lead in the 12th minute scoring on a penalty corner.
LVC battled back in the second quarter and played the Hornets even with each team putting two shots on goal and earning one penalty corner during the period.

Lexi Ward had shots denied from going into the back of the cage early in the quarter. Lynchburg was able to score a goal in the third and a goal in the fourth quarter to set the final score. The Dutchmen put two shots on goal off penalty corners in the final five minutes of the game, but each attempt was knocked away by the Hornet keeper.
