Women's Soccer Ties Eastern in Defensive Battle

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team tied Eastern University 0-0 in a defensive battle on Tuesday at Herbert Field. The contest marks the second time Lebanon Valley has shut out an opponent this season.

The defenses of both the Flying Dutchmen (1-2-2) and the Eagles (1-3-1) dominated the game, limiting scoring chances for the opposing squad. LVC held Eastern to five total shots and just three shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Jocelyn Umana saved all three of these attempts.

Lebanon Valley was aggressive on offense from the start of the game, taking eight shots in the first half. First-year Abrielle Miller took two of the team's first five shots, attempting to get the squad on the board. Umana made two key saves during the first half, stifling Eastern's efforts to find the net.

The Flying Dutchmen continued to battle throughout the second half, taking seven shots during the final stanza. Junior midfielder Darian Berkheimer contributed to the team's attempts to get the offense going, taking two shots during the first five minutes of the half. Berkheimer took three shots in the game, tying Miller for the most in the contest. The Eagles had an opportunity to get on the board with just 2:31 to play, but Umana made a clutch save on Eastern's only shot on goal in the second. Both programs kept the opposition scoreless in the remaining minutes, prompting the game to end in a 0-0 stalemate.
