HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior goalkeeper
Jocelyn Umana made five saves on Saturday afternoon, as the Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team dropped a close 1-0 match to Haverford College at Walton Field.
This game was all about the defense, as both programs limited the opposition's chances to get on the scoreboard. The Flying Dutchmen (1-2-1) kept the Fords (3-2-1) in check, limiting the team to seven shots on goal despite Haverford taking 14 total shots. Haverford found the net once during the first half, which proved to be the difference in the contest.
The Fords got on the board 28:09 into the game, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Grace Haskell. Neither team sent a shot to the back of the net during the remainder of the half, giving Haverford a one-point advantage as the game entered halftime.
Lebanon Valley generated a scoring opportunity early in the second half, as senior forward
Kaitlyn Brumbaugh took a shot that was saved by the goalkeeper 3:11 into the stanza. The Dutchmen were productive on the defensive end during the half, blanking a Fords offense that took nine shots in the final 45 minutes.
