Men’s Tennis Edges Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's tennis team earned a hard-fought 5-4 victory at University of Scranton on Thursday afternoon in their first road match of the year.
 
The Dutchmen (2-0) won two of the three doubles pairings and then split the six singles matches with Adam Warren winning the final point in a three-set thriller.
 
Inside the Box
  • Jesse Beck and Warren won their number one double match 8-4 to improve to 2-0 on the season.
  • Jake Erb and Brady McLucas won 8-2 at number two doubles for their second win playing together.
  • Michael Schuetz gave the Dutchmen a 3-1 lead with his second consecutive 6-0, 6-0 victory at number five singles.
  • Erb was the next court to finish at number three as the sophomore made it 4-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
  • Warren lost the first set 7-6 but then battled back to win the second set 6-3 at number two singles. The junior was the last match to finish and recorded the fifth and deciding point for the Dutchmen with a 7-6 win in the third set.
  • LVC has now won nine consecutive matches against Scranton after dropping the first meeting in 2000. The streak includes victories in each of the past four fall seasons.

The Dutchmen will head to the nation's capital on Saturday to face Catholic University. First serves are scheduled for 11 a.m.
