Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Negron's Two Goals Fuel Shutout Victory in Season Opener Against Rutgers-Newark

ANNVILLE, Pa. Senior forward and midfielder Aidan Negron scored two goals in the Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team's 4–0 season-opening victory over Rutgers University-Newark, on Friday at Herbert Field. The Dutchmen converted a pair of shots in the first half and never looked back, cruising their way to their second win in a season opener over the last three years.

This game was a defensive showcase early on, as Lebanon Valley (1-0) got off just two shot attempts and the Scarlet Raiders (0-1) took just one shot through the first 17-plus minutes of the contest. Negron broke the offensive silence 17:15 into the first half, scoring LVC's first goal of the campaign thanks to an assist by Nathan Prex. The Dutchmen then extended their lead to 2–0 as the teams were 27:22 into the game, when senior forward Lucas Strange sent a shot to the back of the net.

The programs continued to battle defensively for the remainder of the first half, maintaining the score through the remaining minutes of the first. Lebanon Valley took the two-goal advantage into halftime.

The Dutchmen made a statement early in the second half, making it a 3–0 ballgame just 1:52 into the second stanza on a goal by Prex. LVC then tacked on an insurance point 56:30 into the game, as Negron extended the team's lead to 4–0 with his second goal of the afternoon. The program's fourth point of the game was assisted by Strange.

This would ultimately hold as the final score, as neither the Dutchmen nor the Scarlet Raiders found the net during the remaining 33:30 of the game.
