ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Junior forward
Jenna Angstadt registered a goal and an assist in the Lebanon Valley College field hockey team's 4–0 season-opening victory over Elizabethtown College, on Friday at Wolf Field.
This game was dominated by defense for the majority of the first period, as neither team scored until the final minute of the frame. The Flying Dutchmen (1-0) managed four shots in the period, while the Blue Jays (0-1) attempted just one shot. LVC got on the scoreboard first, as sophomore forward
Gracie Johnson sent the ball to the back of the cage to give the team a 1–0 lead 14:03 into the game. This goal was assisted by senior midfielder
Emily Kline.
Lebanon Valley added another tally about halfway through the second period, extending its lead to 2–0 over Elizabethtown. Sophomore forward
Rebecca Lane scored a goal 23:27 into the contest, courtesy of an assist by Angstadt. The Dutchmen then made it a 3–0 game in the third period on a converted penalty shot by senior midfielder
Sarah Leidich.
LVC capped off the scoring in the fourth period, as Angstadt sent her shot attempt into the back of the cage 49:15 into the contest. This goal provided Lebanon Valley with a 4–0 lead, which would stand as the final score.

Lebanon Valley will return to the field at 3 p.m. Saturday, as the team will host the University of Lynchburg in its home opener at Arnold Field. The contest will mark the first time the Flying Dutchmen have played the Hornets in Annville since Sept. 5, 2021.
