De Falcis Wins Javelin to Highlight Day One of AARTFC Championships

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Michael De Falcis won the javelin with a career best throw to highlight the first day of competition for the Lebanon Valley Outdoor Track and Field teams at the AARTFC Championships on Wednesday at Susquehanna University.
 
The Dutchmen men's team scored 24 points and are third out of 31 scoring teams heading into the second and final day. The women's team did not score any points on the first day.
 
De Falcis threw the javelin a career best 59.86 meters (196'5") on his sixth attempt to score 10 points. His toss is 19th in the nation this year and fourth in the program record books. He has a good chance of qualifying for the National Championships with the top 22 marks qualifying and just three meet results left to be reported throughout the nation. Ian Paul finished third to score six points with a mark of 57.20 meters (187'8") on his third throw. Kaitlyn Snyder threw the javelin 33.08 meters (108'6") on her second throw to finish 17th for the women. Mackenze Spence finished 17th in the women's discus with a throw of 35.29 meters (115'9") on her third toss.
 
Ayden Stankus finished 12th in the men's pole vault with a height of 4.27 meters (14'0"). Emily Oriel was 14th in the women's pole vault with a height of 3.25 meters (10'8"). Rachel Snavely was 16th with the same height of 3.25 meters (10'8")
 
On the track, Jordan Berger finished seventh in the men's 10,000 meters to score two points with a career best time of 31:37.98. His time is fourth in program history. In the women's race, Anna Donnelly ran a career best 39:37.52 to finish 16th. Her time is fourth on the program's top 10 list. Joe Chukoskie ran 15:41.50 in the 5,000 meters to finish 28th.
 
Zach Reed was 10th in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.27 seconds. Kadan Smith ran a career best time of 15.37 seconds to finish 13th. Daniel Murtha finished in 16.40 seconds. Noah Griffin ran another excellent race in the 3000 steeplechase as he was just 0.09 seconds off his school record time on Monday to finish fourth and score five points with a time of 9:11.77. Donnie Miller had a time of 9:55.43 to finish 19th.
 
The men's 4x100 relay team of Daniel Sheffield, Smith, Owen Linder, and Alex Sabo finished 12th in 43.12 seconds. The women's team of Oriel, Darrian Berkheimer, Alyssa Peiffer, and Melena Koutch ran 50.78 seconds to finish 22nd. The men's 4x400 relay squad of Linder, Donovan Goundie, Matt Bruchak, and Elijah McKell ran 3:21.90 to finish eighth and score one point. Their time was ninth in program history.
 
The regional championship will conclude on Thursday back at Susquehanna starting at 11 a.m.
