READING, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team scored the first 10 goals of the game including outscoring host Alvernia University 8-0 in the first quarter to defeat the Golden Wolves 16-7 in a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth matchup in Reading on Wednesday afternoon.
Carson Frey gave LVC (7-5, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) a 2-0 lead with the first two goals of the game in the opening three minutes of play.
Jake Bollinger scored the next two goals with his second coming off an assist by
Hayden Carling.
Alex Kiviniemi made it 5-0 with 4:30 remaining in the quarter with his 34th goal of the year off an assist by
Colin Hughes. Frey completed his hat trick before
Trey Ralston and Hughes scored in the final minute to give the Dutchmen an 8-0 advantage after the first 15 minutes. The second quarter began with Bollinger scoring twice in the first two minutes. Alvernia (4-7, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) got on the board with an unassisted goal with 5:23 to go in the half. Hughes scored his second goal of the game prior to the Golden Wolves scoring twice.
Sean Poole ended the half with his third goal of the season off an assist from
Josh Reinhardt to give LVC a 12-3 halftime lead.
The third quarter belonged to the Dutchmen as LVC scored three times and held the Wolves off the scoreboard to increase the lead to 15-3. Ralston, Bollinger, and Frey scored for the Dutchmen off two assists from Hughes and an assist on the Bollinger goal by Frey. Carling began the fourth with his first career goal off an assist from
Evan Miller. Alvernia scored the final four goals of the game in the last eight minutes including two man-up goals.
Inside the Box Score
- Frey led the offense with a season-high six points on a season-high four goals and two assists. He put six of his eight shots on goal and recorded his second hat trick of the season.
- Bollinger scored five goals on eight shots for his eighth hat trick of the year. The junior also picked up a season-high four ground balls.
- Hughes had five points on two goals and three assists. It is his second five-point game of the year.
- Ralston had three points on two goals and an assist while Carling recorded two points on a goal and an assist.
- Gavin Porter won 12 faceoffs and Ben Weathersby led the team with six ground balls.
- Branden Manderbach, Zach Wanous, and Owen Cummins had two caused turnovers each.
- The Dutchmen defense allowed a season-low 22 shots with 12 going on goal.

LVC will have the weekend off before returning to action next Wednesday with a 4 p.m. matchup against Eastern University at Arnold Field.
