Paul and Berger Record Big Marks at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBEURG, Pa. – Ian Paul recorded a top 25 mark in the javelin and Jordan Berger broke the 3,000-meter school record to lead the Lebanon Valley outdoor track and field teams on Saturday afternoon at the Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg University. The meet was the final regular season meet for the Dutchmen in preparations for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships next weekend.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES
Owen Linder finished seventh in the 200 meters with a career best time of 22.43 seconds. Alec Di Cesare had a top 10 finish in the 800 meters with a season best time of 1:55.98 to cross the line in ninth. Noah Griffin had a strong race in the 1500 meters as he finished ninth in 4:01.48. Lauren Bunke finished third in the women's 1500 meters with a time of 4:42.22.
 
Jordan Berger ran a career best time of 8:49.40 to finish sixth in the 3,000 meters. Zach Reed was fifth in the 110 hurdles with a career best time of 15.01 seconds in the final after qualifying with a time of 15.35 seconds. Daniel Murtha was eight with a time of 16.02 seconds after running 15.37 seconds in the preliminaries. The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Murtha, Kadan Smith, Linder, and Alex Sabo finished sixth in 43.63 seconds.
 
Ayden Stankus finished third in the men's pole vault with a height of 4.50 meters (14'9"). Rachel Snavely was seventh in the pole vault with a height of 3.20 meters (10'6") Trey Reynolds was seventh in the hammer with a throw of 46.44 meters (152'4") on his first attempt of the day. Paul was fourth in the javelin with a career best mark of 57.83 meters (189'9") on his fifth toss.
 
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
Linder's career best time of 22.43 seconds in the 200 meters is ninth in the school record books. Reed moved up from eighth to sixth in the 110 hurdles with his career best time of 15.01 seconds. Griffin and Sam Rothstein entered the record book in the 1500 meters. Griffin's time of 4:01.48 is seventh while Rothstein is 10th at 4:03.79. Berger replaces Griffin as the 3,000-meter record holder with his career best time of 8:49.40. Griffin ran 8:51.09 last year which was the previous record. Joe Chukoskie joins Berger in the 3,000 meters record book with a time of 9:04.54 which stands fourth. Paul's career best throw of 57.83 meters in the javelin moves him up from seventh to sixth. His mark is also 24th in the nation this season.
 
UP NEXT
LVC will head to York College next weekend for the MAC Championships. The championships begin on Thursday and will wrap up on Saturday.
