ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's tennis team will play for a second consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth title this weekend after a quick 5-0 victory over fourth-seeded York College of Pennsylvania on Tuesday afternoon at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
LVC (16-3) won all three doubles matches in about 35 minutes and then needed just another hour to wrap up the match with two singles victories. After the Dutchmen earned wins at number five and six singles to score their fifth team point the rest of the matches were stopped and went unfinished.
Inside the Box Score
- Jesse Beck and Brendan Byler continued their winning streak at number two doubles with an 8-1 victory for the first point of the match. Their win streak is now at eight matches heading into the conference championship.
- Jeffrey Bauer and Brady McLucas were the next to finish with an 8-3 win at number three doubles. They are now 8-0 this year when playing together.
- After being down early in the match, Justin Schuetz and Adam Warren rallied for an 8-6 victory at number one doubles to give the Dutchmen a 3-0 lead in the match.
- Byler cruised through his number six singles match with a fast 6-2, 6-3 victory to put the Dutchmen on the brink of advancing. He is now 12-0 in duals when playing in the sixth flight.
- Beck clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at number five for his fifth consecutive win.
- The other four matches went unfinished with LVC winning in three of the matches and the fourth one was tied.
- Schuetz almost finished off his singles match at number one and was leading 6-2, 5-2 when Beck recorded his final point.
- Bauer was leading 6-4, 4-3 at number three while McLucas rallied to win the first set 7-5 and was up 2-1 in the second set at number four.
- Warren dropped his first set 6-3 but came roaring back to take the second set 6-0. He was tied at 1 in the third set when the match ended.
- LVC won their 10th match in a row and their 16th consecutive match at the Shankroff Tennis Center.

The Dutchmen will host the MAC Commonwealth Championship this weekend as the top seed. LVC will face Stevenson University in the final after the Mustangs defeated Messiah 5-1. The match is scheduled for Saturday but could be changed due to the weekend weather forecast. A time will be announced later this week.
