Men’s Track and Field Has Strong Weekend Showing at Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's outdoor track and field team had a great weekend at the Millersville Metrics on Saturday and a few distance runners at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University on Friday evening.
 
MAC AND AARTFC QUALIFIERS AND OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
Owen Linder was one of four Dutchmen to qualify for the MAC Championships in the 100 meters with a time of 11.20 seconds. Alex Sabo ran 11.51 seconds while Zach Reed had a time of 11.53 seconds. Daniel Murtha was right behind him in 11.54 seconds. Linder also qualified in the 200 meters with a time of 22.58 seconds to finish fourth out of 53. Matt Bruchak was a MAC qualifier in the 400 meters with a time of 52.17 seconds. Vinny Ferrizzi qualified in two events starting with the 800 meters where he finished eighth in 2:02.46. He also qualified in the 1500 meters where he finished fourth in 4:05.35. Sam Rothstein ran 4:07.55 to finish sixth and Andy Loy was right behind him in seventh with a time of 4:07.89 to qualify for the MAC Championships. Elijah McKell and Alec Di Cesare were also MAC qualifiers in the event with times of 4:11.95 and 4:12.67.
 
Murtha qualified for the MAC Championships and AARTFC Championships in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.23 seconds in the final to finish third. He ran 15.69 seconds in the preliminaries. Reed was a MAC qualifier in the 400 hurdles with a time of 58.11 seconds to finish fifth. Eric Shelton ran 10:17.98 to finish third in the steeplechase to qualify for the MAC Championships with Donnie Miller finishing right behind him in 10:18.02.
 
Ayden Stankus finished second in the pole vault with a MAC qualifying height of 4.05 meters (13'3.5"). Darren Rodoff also qualified with a height of 3.75 meters (12'3.5"). Josh Otto and Daniel Sheffield finished in the top eight in the long jump. Otto was sixth with a jump of 6.29 meters (20'7.75") on his second attempt while Sheffield was eighth at 6.17 meters (20'3") on his third jump. Otto qualified for the MAC Championships in the triple jump with a mark of 12.32 meters (40'5") on his second attempt to finish eighth. Stankus also qualified in the event with a jump of 12.05 meters (39'6.5") on his first attempt.
 
Ian Paul, Alex Sabo, and Wyatt Hetrick all qualified for MACs in the shot put. Paul threw 12.89 meters (42'3.5") on his second attempt, Sabo had a mark of 11.90 meters (39'0.5") on his third throw, and Hetrick tossed 11.66 meters (38'3.25") on his first throw. Trey Reynolds was an AARTFC qualifier in the hammer with a toss of 48.20 meters (158'2") on his second attempt to finish seventh. Michael De Falcis hit 51.65 meters (169'5") in the javelin to qualify for the AARTFC Championships.
 
At Widener University on Friday evening, Noah Griffin won the 10K with a MAC and AARTFC qualifying time of 30:55.30. Jordan Berger also qualified for both championships with a time of 32:23.18. Joe Chukoskie ran 33:10.30 and Joe Pleban had a time of 34:18.68 to qualify for the MAC Championships.
 
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
Murtha jumped into the 110 hurdles record books with his wind-aided time of 15.23 seconds which is 10th. Griffin is now second in the 10,000 meters with his time of 30:55.00. Berger is seventh in the event with his time of 32:23.18. Hetrick moved into the hammer record books at 10th with his toss of 43.19 meters. Reynolds threw his career best toss of 48.20 meters to move up from fifth to third.

LVC will have a short week before being back in action on Wednesday at the York Twilight Meet hosted by York College of Pennsylvania.
