TOWSON, Md. – The Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team pulled away from host Goucher College on Saturday afternoon outscoring the Gophers 7-0 in the second quarter to earn a 15-7 victory.
Jack Kapcsos put LVC (3-2) up in the first minute with an unassisted goal. The Gophers (1-3) evened the score up two minutes later before
Carson Frey and
Jake Bollinger gave the Dutchmen a 3-1 lead heading into the second quarter. The defense shut down the Gopher offense in the quarter as
Kellen Markley stopped all six shots he faced in the quarter. The Dutchmen offense went to work and scored seven times to take a 10-1 halftime lead.
Trey Ralston began the scoring in the quarter. Frey, Alex Kviniemi,
Colin Hughes, and
Josh Reinhardt all had goals for the Dutchmen in the quarter. Ralston had three goals in the quarter.
The Dutchmen increased their lead to 12-1 with goals by Ralston and Kiviniemi to begin the second half. The teams traded goals as Bollinger and Frey found the back of the net before the Gophers ended the quarter with a goal to make it 14-4. Goucher would score three of the four goals in the fourth quarter with Bollinger completing his hat trick for LVC.
Inside the Box Score
- Raston scored four goals for the third consecutive game and now has 13 goals and 21 points this season. He had seven shots on goal and two ground balls.
- Frey also had four points on three goals and an assist. He put five of his eight shots on goal and had three ground balls.
- Bollinger was the third Dutchman with a hat trick on 10 shots and three shots on goal.
- Hughes had three points on one goal and two assists.
- Kiviniemi scored twice while Sam Long had an assist.
- Ben Weathersby led the defensive effort with nine ground balls and four caused turnovers.
- Gavin Porter won 10 faceoffs and had six ground balls.
- Markley finished the game with 15 saves.
Up Next
The Dutchmen will have the week off before returning to action next Saturday with their third straight road game. LVC will head north to Wilkes-Barre for a 1 p.m. start against King's College at McCarthy Stadium.
