Fast Start Powers Dutchmen to Victory at King’s

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team scored the first five goals of the game in a 19-9 victory at King's College on Saturday afternoon in Wilkes-Barre.
 
The Dutchmen (4-2) outscored the Monarchs in the opening quarter 5-1 behind goals from Carson Frey, Trey Ralston, Alex Kiviniemi, and two from Collin Hughes. Jake Bollinger gave LVC a 6-1 lead with the first goal of the second quarter. After a Monarch goal Hughes and Bollinger added to the lead as Lebanon Valley went up 8-2 with 8:45 to go in the half. King's traded goals with the Dutchmen as Hughes tallied his fourth goal of the game to give LVC a 9-4 halftime lead.
 
The third quarter was dominated by the Dutchmen with the first seven goals of the quarter and eight total to increase their lead to 17-6. Kiviniemi and Frey scored the first two goals of the quarter before Bollinger rattled off three straight. Jack Kapcsos and Evan Miller added goals before the Monarchs stopped the run with a goal of their own. Nick West scored his first goal of year to end the Dutchmen scoring in the quarter. Bollinger and Ralston scored the two goals in the fourth quarter for the Dutchmen in the first five minutes.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Bollinger had another huge game against the Monarchs with six goals and one assist. The junior has scored 17 goals and recorded three assists in three games against King's in his career. 
  • Hughes finished with five points on four goals and one assist.
  • Frey had two goals, three assists, and four ground balls.
  • Ralston and Kiviniemi had four points on two goals and two assists each.
  • Gavin Porter won seven faceoffs.
  • The Dutchmen outshot the Monarchs 61-26 including 37-16 in shots on goal.
  • LVC caused 16 of the 35 King's turnovers and were 25-30 on clears.
