Kiviniemi and Bollinger Power Men’s Lacrosse to Big Win Over Susquehanna

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Alex Kiviniemi and Jake Bollinger scored six goals each to lead the Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team to a big 17-8 victory over visiting Susquehanna University on Wednesday afternoon on Arnold Field.
 
LVC (5-2) got on the board first as Kiviniemi scored in the first minute of the game. Susquehanna (4-4) tied the game up a few minutes later. The Dutchmen took the lead for good as Kiviniemi and Evan Miller scored back-to-back goals in a span of 24 seconds. The River Hawks cut the lead to 3-2 before Bollinger ended the quarter with his first goal of the game. Lebanon Valley scored all six goals of the second quarter to take a 10-2 halftime lead. Kiviniemi had a man-up goal and then Carson Frey scored with just over 10 minutes to play. Bollinger, Trey Ralston, Jacob Mrose, and Kiviniemi added goals in the final 10 minutes.
 
The run continued into the second half as Bollinger scored and then Kiviniemi scored twice to give the Dutchmen a commanding 13-2 lead. The River Hawks stopped the run with a goal with 5:11 left in the quarter. Bollinger scored the last goal of the third and first goal of the fourth quarter before Susquehanna rattled off four straight goals to make it 15-7. Colin Hughes and Bollinger found the back of the net in the final 5:30 to sandwich a Susquehanna goal.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Bollinger scored six goals for the second consecutive game and added three assists for nine points. He has now scored 75 goals in his career.
  • Kiviniemi equaled his career high with six goals. He added one assist and recorded the 100th point of his career.  
  • Frey had four points on one goal and three assists. He has recorded three assists in three of the last four games.
  • Hughes had one goal and two assists while Mrose had a goal and an assist.
  • Ben Weathersby had a team-high seven ground balls while Gavin Porter won seven faceoffs for the second consecutive game.
  • LVC outshot the River Hawks 44-34 including 27-18 in shots on goal.
  • The Dutchmen are 3-0 on Arnold Field this year and are on a three-game winning streak.
  • LVC beat Susquehanna for the first time in program history in a series that dates back to 2010.

The Dutchmen will be on Arnold Field once again this Saturday when they welcome future MAC Freedom opponent Misericordia University to Annville for a 1 p.m. start.
