Ian Paul Hits AARTFC Qualifying Mark in Javelin at First Outdoor Meet

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Ian Paul qualified for the AARTFC Championships in the javelin to highlight a strong start by the Lebanon Valley men's outdoor track and field team on a wet day in Annville. The Dutchmen had 14 MAC qualifiers in the first meet of the year as LVC hosted Albright College for a mini meet on Saturday.
 
MAC QUALIFIERS
Owen Linder qualified for the MAC Championships in the 200 meters with a time of 22.72 seconds. The Dutchmen had three qualifiers in the long jump as Josh Otto, Daniel Sheffield, and Ayden Stankus all hit the required distance. Otto recorded a jump of 6.34 meters on his second attempt. Sheffield hit 6.11 meters on his first jump and Stankus jumped 5.97 meters on his third attempt.
 
The Dutchmen had a great day throwing despite the rainy conditions with 10 qualifiers in the four events. In the shot put Trey Reynolds and Cody Shay qualified. Reynolds had the top mark in the field with a toss of 12.67 meters on his first of four throws. Shay had a toss of 11.83 meters on his third attempt. LVC had all three hammer throwers qualify to start the meet. Reynolds had a monster final throw of 45.80 meters to top the field. Shay threw 42.24 meters on his second attempt and Wyatt Hetrick had a mark of 39.71 meters on his first collegiate throw. Hetrick, Reynolds, and Will Fisher all qualified in the discus. Hetrick had a throw of 38.65 meters on his fourth and final toss. Reynolds threw 36.67 meters on his first attempt and Fisher finished at 36.19 meters on his fourth throw. Paul hit 50.74 meters on his second throw to top the field in the javelin. Michael De Falcis was also a MAC qualifier with a toss of 45.75 meters on his fourth attempt.
 
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
The Dutchmen ran four sprint medley relay teams where two beat the school record and two were just behind it. The team of Daniel Murtha, Kadan Smith, Alec Di Cesare, and Vinny Ferrizzi won in 3:38.60 just beating teammates Linder, Zach Reed, Sheffield, and Elijah McKell who finished in 3:41.35. The group of Donovan Goundie, Stankus, Matt Bruchak and Andy Loy had a time of 3:44.71 and the team of Otto, Nicholas Resele, Caleb Scarborough, and Sam Rothstein finished in 3:47.75.

The Dutchmen will be back in action next Saturday at Millersville University competing in the Millersville Metrics.
