GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley baseball team scored nine runs and six of their 12 hits went for extra bases in a tough 11-9 darkness-shorten defeat at Gettysburg College on Wednesday afternoon.
The offense started early as
Andrew Miles blasted a 3-1 pitch over the left field fence in the top of the first to give the Dutchmen a 1-0 lead. Gettysburg (3-1) manufactured a run in the bottom of the inning to tie things up.
Ryan Murphy singled to lead off the second,
Duncan Weir doubled, and then
Justin Ranker knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly to right. The Dutchmen increased the lead to 6-1 in the third as
Luke Blair hit an RBI single to right and then Weir cleared the bases with a bases-loaded double to left center. The Bullets cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the third and another in the fifth.
LVC responded with two runs in the sixth on a Miles double down the line in left to score
Nico Santoro and then a Blair single. Gettysburg used an eight-run seventh inning to take the lead 11-8. The Dutchmen came back in the top of the eighth and
Ryan Murphy hit a two-out RBI double to center scoring
Jace Fetterman. The Bullets were able to get the final out of the inning and the game was called by the umpires due to darkness.

- Weir had a huge day at the plate with three hits, including two doubles, and three RBI.
- Miles blasted his first home run of the year and third of his career. He finished the game with two hits, two RBI, and two runs scored.
- Murphy had a three-hit game with two runs and an RBI.
- Blair had two hits and two RBI. He also scored a run.
- The Dutchmen hit five doubles in the game and drew seven walks including an intentional walk.
- Tommy Moore Jr. pitched the first two innings and struck out one hitter. Jacob Horton struck out three in his two innings of work and then Sam Dozier struck out two in his two innings on the mound.
