ANNVILLE, Pa. – The second week of the spring season has come to a close for Esports. With this comes the start of the NECC regular season for week 3 and the beginning of the NACE Varsity Premier League for Rocket League and Super Smash Bros.
Rocket League— Rocket League started the week kicking off their NACE season. The team moved up to the varsity premier league for the spring and faced the University of Cincinnati in their first match. The Dutchmen managed to steal games one and two after going down 1-0 in both games. Games three and four would go the way of Cincinnati though, giving way to a game five that LVC would control in a 5-3 victory to start 1-0 in the NACE season. On Friday, they faced the University of Houston to close out NECC activation. This match would tell a similar story to the match earlier in the week with LVC taking games one and two then dropping games three and four. Once again, the Dutchmen would take game five, this time in overtime with a double tap into the Houston net by Mason "Magarz" Garza. The NECC division Rocket League will be placed in this spring will be announced within the next few days.

They would first take on Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where they would struggle to find a win. After the dust settled, they fell 13-4 and dropped to 0-3 in activation with one match left. Their final activation matchup would come against Kennesaw State University where the team would find their groove and start with an 8-4 lead at halftime. They would ride the momentum and take the map 13-8 to close out activation with a win. They will compete in this division alongside Fisher College, North Carolina State University, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, The Ohio State University, Purdue University, Rutgers University, Stony Brook University, Tennessee Technological University, and University of Kentucky.
Rainbow Six— Following some close week one matches in activation, the team was able to play with their full roster this week. In those matches, LVC first took on Western Colorado University where they would dominate throughout with a clean 7-3 victory on Kafe. They would then move on to a much tougher opponent in University of Windsor. LVC would play from behind in most of the map but would ultimately be able to make a comeback taking the last four rounds to complete the comeback and take an 8-6 win on Clubhouse. The team has been placed in the Challengers East Division alongside Arcadia University, Clark University, Defiance College, Fanshawe College, New England College, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Northern Virginia Community College, Robert Morris University, and University of Windsor.
Super Smash— Following a playoff appearance for the Smash team, they are retaining their roster from last semester. The roster features Andrew "Manta" Syslo '23, Corey "tstew14" Frederick '23, Derrick "Doinkk" Hornbaker '23 and John "woodchuckman" Wood '24. The team had one match this week to start their spring campaign, meeting up with Quinnipiac University on Thursday night. LVC had a solid first set where Syslo was able to take five of the 12 Quinnipiac stocks on his own while Frederick and Hornbaker finished off the remaining seven. The Dutchmen would have a much closer second set, requiring the services of all four members as Wood managed to close out the series with the two remaining LVC stocks.
