UTICA, N.Y. – Katie Pounder scored the second power play goal of her career on Saturday afternoon as the Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey team was dealt a 7-1 defeat at the hands of 12th-ranked Utica University on their home ice of the Nexus Center in Utica.
The Pioneers got off to a strong start in their final regular season home game of the year scoring four goals in the first period. They would add two more in the second period to take a 6-0 lead. The Dutchmen started the third period on the power play and Pounder didn't take long to put LVC on the board with a goal 22 seconds into the period.
Grace Mayer assisted on the play. Utica rounded out the scoring near the end of the period with their third power play goal of the game.
Inside the Box Score
- Pounder scored her first goal of the season and ninth of her career. The senior took two shots and won seven faceoffs.
- Mayer tallied her third assist of the year and eighth of her career.
- Tiffany Anderson won a team-high 10 faceoffs while Jade Julius won eight.
- Olivia Magneson stopped 22 shots before Shelby Guinard entered the game a little bit over halfway through the second period. Guinard made 25 saves and faced 26 shots.
