NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Lebanon Valley men's indoor track and field team had a great showing under the bright lights of the city that never sleeps on Friday evening at the NYU Invitational hosted The Armory in New York City.
TOP PERFORMANCES AND MAC QUALIFIERS
Zach Reed won the 60-meter hurdles while
Daniel Murtha finished third. Reed ran the fastest time in prelims at 8.65 seconds and then cruised to the win in the final with a time of 8.52 seconds. Murtha ran 8.70 seconds before finishing third in the final with a time of 8.68 seconds. The 4x400 meter relay team of
Alec Di Cesare, Murtha,
Owen Linder, and Reed had a great race to finish third in 3:29.02.
Noah Griffin qualified for the MAC Championships in the mile with a time of 4:26.82 to win his heat and finish 11th overall.
Ayden Stankus was second in the pole vault with a height of 4.26 meters (13'11.75"). The throwers had a great meet with
Will Fisher and
Trey Reynolds finishing in the top seven of the shot put and Reynolds finishing fourth in the weight throw. Fisher had a mark of 14.31 meters (46'11.5") on his sixth and final toss to place sixth in the shot. Reynolds had a mark of 13.97 meters (45'10") on his third attempt to finish seventh. He then threw 15.97 meters (52'4.75") on his final toss in the weight throw to finish fourth. Reynolds qualified for the AARTFC Championships in both events.
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
Noah Griffin and
Sam Rothstein moved into the record books in the mile with strong races. Griffin's time of 4:26.82 is sixth in program history. Rothstein wasn't too far behind him running 4:28.84 in the same heat. His time is ninth on the top 10 list. Fisher threw a career best in the shot put to move up from 10th to ninth in the record books. Reynolds had a career best in the weight throw to move up to third from fourth.

LVC won't have to travel far for their next meet as they will be in Reading next Saturday for the PLEX Shootout hosted by Alvernia University.
