Dutchmen Men Compete at Susquehanna in Final Tune-up Meet

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's indoor track and field team wrapped up a great regular season on Saturday and now have their sights set on the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships after a strong showing at the Susquehanna Tune-Up.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES AND MAC QUALIFIERS
Owen Linder was third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.27 seconds. Zach Reed ran in the 60-meter hurdles at Penn State on Friday afternoon where he finished second with times of 8.53 seconds in the prelims and 8.51 seconds in the final. On Saturday he cruised to a time of 53.26 seconds in the 400 meters to finish third and qualify for MACs. Elijah McKell also qualified for the MAC Championships in the event with a time of 53.70 seconds. Alec Di Cesare finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.06. Vinny Ferrizzi also had a second-place finish in the mile with a time of 4:29.30. Jordan Berger ran a MAC qualifying time in the 3000 meters to finish second in 8:59.51. Joe Chukoskie won the 5000 meters in a MAC qualifying time of 15:49.74.

Daniel Murtha was second in the 60-meter hurdles running a time of 8.83 seconds in prelims and then 8.68 seconds in the final. Kadan Smith ran 8.96 seconds in the prelims and then finished sixth in the final with a time of 8.95 seconds. The 4x200 relay team of Linder, Smith, Murtha, and Reed ran a time of 1:34.60 to finish second. The distance medley relay team of Andy Loy, Matt Bruchak, Sam Rothstein, and Noah Griffin won in an AARTFC qualifying time of 10:37.20.
 
Gabriel Vellios was third in the high jump with a height of 1.81 meters (5'11.25"). Ayden Stankus was second in the pole vault with a height of 4.10 meters (13'5.25") while Darren Rodoff was fourth at 3.95 meters (12'11.5"). Daniel Sheffield finished sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.35 meters (20'10") on his sixth jump. Will Fisher had a monster career best throw in the shot put to finish second hitting 14.41 meters (47'3.5") on his sixth and final attempt.
 
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
Ferrizzi moved into the record books in the mile with his career best time. He is now 10th with a time of 4:29.30. Berger's 3000-meter time was also a career best putting him in the school record books at eighth with a time of 8:59.51. Chukoski was the third runner to enter the record books in an event on Saturday with a time of 15:49.74 in the 5000 meters which is ninth on the top 10 list. The distance medley relay team has the ninth fastest time in program history. Will Fisher moved from ninth to eighth in the shot put with his career best mark.
 
UP NEXT
LVC will look to win some hardware at the MAC Championships next Friday and Saturday at Alvernia's PLEX.
