ANNVILLE, Pa. – With the third week of the season out of the way, we were able to see the start of the NECC and NACE Varsity Plus seasons for our teams.
Rocket League— After a solid showing in activation, Rocket League was placed in the Challengers Central Atlantic Division. They were placed with Concord University, Mount Union University, Edinboro University, Robert Morris University, Howard Community College, Northern Virginia Community College, West Virginia University, University of Mary Washington and Waynesburg University. With this, the team faced three matches this week. First, they took on Messiah University in an Appalachian Conference matchup on Wednesday where they managed to pull out a 3-0 result and keep themselves in first place in the conference. Then, on Thursday, they faced a strong University of Maryland squad that sent the Dutchman down to 1-1 on the NACE season with a 3-0 sweep. Finally, on Friday, they kicked off the fall NECC title defense with a 3-1 win over Concord University, slamming the door shut on a potential game five with a 7-2 win in Game four of the series. The team will take on Miami Dade College in NACE and Mount Union University in NECC play this week. The team will have a bye week in the Appalachian Conference.
Valorant— Our Valorant team was tasked with four total matches this week, the most of all our teams. They started on Monday facing Fisher College, who are ranked 11th in collegiate accoring to the rankings from @CollegeVALHub on Twitter. After a few close rounds, it would be all Fisher on map one, ending with a score of 13-6. Map two would look much better for LVC but that wouldn't prove to mean much, ending 13-7 in favor of Fisher bringing the team to 0-1 in NECC. The next day, they matched up with Messiah in the Appalachian Conference. Here, they were able to dominate the series with two 13-4 wins to take the series 2-0 and remain undefeated in the conference. Finally, they would have to wait for the weekend to close out their long week. On Saturday, they would take on Ontario Tech University in the College Valorant Winter Split Round of 32. They would fall in a contested map one 13-8, but this wouldn't stop the Dutchman who would take the next two maps of the series 13-5 on Pearl, and 13-10 on Fracture. This put them in the round of 16 on Sunday where they matched up with eighth seeded and 29th ranked Stony Brook University. Both maps would start close but strong second halves from Stony Brook would close out both maps in their favor 13-5. This eliminates LVC from the College Valorant Winter Split, with the Spring Split just over a month away. They will take on Rutgers University in NECC play this week with a bye in the Appalachian Conference.
Rainbow Six— Rainbow Six kicked off their first full week of the regular season going two for two on the week. They started with a dominant win over Clark University in the first week of NECC play with a 7-3 on Oregon and a 7-1 on Bank to take the series in a 2-0 victory. Things got a bit more shaky on Thursday when substitute Harold "WizArD" Bowman had to step in for captain David "MrDavisTV" Palmer. This meeting with Central Michigan University would still end in their favor though as Kafe would end with a 1v2 clutch win from the substitute to put LVC up 1-0 in the series. On Border, Central Michigan would keep themselves alive taking both overtime rounds to force the map three. This is where LVC would find their groove with a more commanding 7-3 win to close out the series 2-1. Next on the docket for Rainbow 6 will be Northern Virginia Community College in NECC week 2. Their NACE match for this week has been rescheduled for March 15th.
Super Smash— The Smash team had a special matchup this week as they headed to Messiah for their NACE matchup to play on LAN. The series was a very close one as the first set went the way of Messiah 4-0. LVC responded with a 4-0 win of their own to even the series. It would then come down to the last stock for both teams in the third set where Messiah was able to close it out in a fantastic battle. The team will meet Immaculata University this week as they look to bounce back from the close loss.
Overwatch— Overwatch found themselves with two matches this week with the first coming against Southeastern University. This one was a fairly quick series as LVC proved to be too much for SEU in the 3-0 sweep with strong showings from the team. They would then match up with Messiah in the Appalachian Conference. This would be a highly contested series throughout. This series even included the debut of the new member of the Overwatch team Parker "Frugglefrog'' Buss '26 whose efforts weren't quite enough in the series as the team would fall in a close game five. Messiah handed LVC their first Appalachian Conference loss across the entire program this season. They will look to bounce back against Toronto Metropolitan University in NACE play this week.
Call of Duty— The Call of Duty team got their first match since qualifying for CCL division one on Wednesday with a dominant 3-0 sweep of Lawrence Technological University in the NACE Starleague. They started with a 100 point clubbing of LTU by taking the hardpoint 250-77, with a 6-1 SND and a 3-0 in the control to follow. They will take on Edinboro for their second NACE match alongside the start of CCL Division One matches this week facing the Big 10 combo of Rutgers University and Penn State University.
