HERSHEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey team shutdown the Arcadia University Knights for the second consecutive day with a 2-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at Hersheypark Arena to move closer to clinching the program's second postseason berth.
The Dutchmen (10-12-1, 7-10-1 UCHC, 5-2-1 MAC) could clinch a berth tomorrow if Utica defeats Wilkes or would just need one point against the Colonels next weekend to secure their spot in the UCHC Tournament. The victory also keeps the Dutchmen alive in their quest for a MAC title moving the squad ahead of the Knights (11-10-2, 7-9-2 UCHC, 5-3-0 MAC) by a point in the MAC standings and one point shy of Alvernia.
LVC and Arcadia battled back and forth for 54 scoreless minutes before
Katrina Strauts knocked the puck in for her team-leading 10th goal of the year while LVC was on their fourth power play of the game. The Knights battled for the game-tying goal and pulled their goalie with two minutes to go for an extra attacker. The Dutchmen kept the Knights off the board and
Jess Dawe put the game away with an empty net goal in the final seconds off an assist by
Jade Julius.
