READING, Pa. – Luis Garcia had a career-high 29 points and seven assists for the Lebanon Valley men's basketball team in a hard-fought 97-83 defeat at conference-leading and regionally-ranked Alvernia University on Saturday afternoon.
Alvernia jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first couple of minutes before
Collin Jones put the Dutchmen on the board with a layup. LVC received buckets from
Ryan Harder, Garcia, and a three-pointer from
Evan Smith to cut the lead down to one at 12-11. The Golden Wolves responded with a 15-0 run to take a 27-11 advantage with 12 minutes on the clock. The Dutchmen fought right back and slowly cut into the lead including a pair of threes from Harder and Garcia to spark a 10-0 run over a two-minute span to come within four at 40-36 with three minutes to go.
Antonio Redding scored on a fastbreak layup to make it a two-point game before Alvernia closed out the half with a free throw to go up 45-42.
Lebanon Valley came out of the break with buckets by Garcia and Smith to take their first lead of the day. Alvernia scored the next seven points to retake the lead. The Golden Wolves continued the run and built the lead up to 16 at 64-48 with 12 minutes left. Alvernia increased the lead to 18 before back-to-back threes from Jones and
Jacob Montgomery made it 68-56 halfway through the half. The Golden Wolves responded with a run of their own to take their largest lead of the game at 83-59 with six minutes left. LVC fought valiantly and used a 10-0 run to end the game.

- Garcia made 11 field goals including three three-pointer and was 4-4 at the line to finish with 29 points. He also dished out seven of the team's 15 assists.
- Redding scored 13 points including a pair of late threes while recording four steals.
- Harder just missed a double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds. He also blocked three shots.
- Jones had nine points and seven rebounds.
- Smith and Montgomery each knocked down a pair of threes.
- The Dutchmen made a season-high 33 field goals including 12 threes. They also blocked a season-high six shots and had nine steals.
