Hoover Scores First Career Goal in Overtime Battle Against Chatham

HERSHEY, Pa. – Ethan Hoover netted his first career goal for the Lebanon Valley College men's ice hockey team, as the program dropped a 2-1 game in overtime to Chatham University on Saturday, Dec. 9, at Hersheypark Arena.

The Dutchmen and the Cougars battled on the defensive end during the first period, keeping the contest scoreless. Chatham was aggressive offensively with 20 shots on goal in the opening frame, but goaltender Jadon Lee limited the squad by saving each attempt. Lee came through with six saves during the first 2:19 of play.

Lebanon Valley also created scoring chances during the first 20 minutes, as seven players sent shots toward the net. Jackson Legro and Haralds Jirgens contributed to these efforts, taking a shot each within 27 seconds during a stretch that began in the seventh minute. Jirgens led the squad with three attempts during the period.

The Flying Dutchmen got on the board 6:31 into the second period, taking a 1-0 lead over the Cougars. Hoover opened the scoring by sending a shot past the goaltender, courtesy of an assist by Tanner Tolliver. LVC also continued to get the job done defensively, keeping the opposition scoreless through the remainder of the frame. Lee delivered another strong effort in the second, making nine more saves. Five different players blocked shots for Lebanon Valley during the period as well.

The programs went back and forth defensively early in the third period, maintaining the score for over eight minutes at the start. The Cougars then tied the contest at 1-1 on a power-play goal by True Crowe 8:15 into the frame. The Dutchmen followed this by generating multiple offensive opportunities beginning in the 11th minute, registering five shots on goal over 48 seconds. Lee also posted four saves during the final two minutes of regulation to help keep the game tied. This important stretch by the goaltender included two saves within eight seconds during the 19th minute.
