LVC Esports Weekly Report: October 29-November 4

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The season is coming down to the wire as Esports heads into the final weeks of the regular season. This week saw two matches from Rocket League, one each for Valorant and Overwatch, and four total series for Rainbow Six.

Rocket League— Last Monday, Rocket League looked to continue their winning streak when they took on the University of Cincinnati in a battle of unbeaten squads. The Dutchmen showed off their offensive abilities scoring 16 total goals in the 3-1 victory. Tyler Franquet did most of the damage for the Dutchmen accounting for seven of the goals and assisting on five more. The team will take on two more NACE matches this week as they look to go into playoffs undefeated. In NECC play, they played a solid Champlain College squad. In the match, LVC just wasn't able to keep up in a close 3-0 defeat, dropping them to 3-2 in the division. They will take on the University of Delaware next week to keep their playoff spot in the Champions Northeast A Division.

Valorant— After a short win streak for Valorant, they were set to face Cornell University. The Dutchmen finally met their match as they fell 2-0 in the series. The loss puts them in the middle of the division at 3-2. They will take on University of Ottawa next week in a win and in scenario for playoffs.

Rainbow Six— A long week for Rainbow Six saw four total matches on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. First up was Kansas State in the sole NECC match of the week. In this match, the Dutchmen started strong with a 7-3 map one victory. They carried the momentum over into map two where they won 7-5 to close out the series 2-0. Michael Schnider stole the show again by posting a 14-5 KD in map one and an 18-5 performance on map two. They now sit in third place in the division with second place North Dakota on the schedule next week. In their next match, LVC faced a Fisher College squad that currently sits ranked in the top three of Collegiate Rainbow Six. The ranking would prove to be too much for the Dutchmen as they fell in a quick 2-0 series. That dropped them to 3-2 going into the next two NACE matches of the week. Their first match against Louisiana State University Shreveport was won by a forfeit due to scheduling conflicts as LVC moved to 4-2 as they looked to close out the season on a high note on Saturday. That is exactly what happened as they cruised to a 2-0 series victory over University of North Carolina Greensboro, putting them at 5-2 on the season. They now wait for the release of the playoff bracket.

Overwatch— Coming off a 3-0 victory last week, Overwatch looked to make it two in a row. They took on Pittsburg Technical College in a series that found its way to a series deciding game five. The series would again see captain Benjamin McDonnell have a major presence leading the way to a 3-2 victory. They will take on an undefeated Cleveland State squad next week where they will need a win to make playoffs.
