ANNVILLE, Pa.–Lebanon Valley College fell just short in its comeback attempt, losing 28-21 to FDU-Florham in a Middle Atlantic Conference matchup on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Arnold Field. LVC drops to 5-4 overall, 5-3 in the MAC. FDU-Florham moves to 5-4 and 4-4.
Trailing 28-14 with 9:50 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Flying Dutchmen engineered a 9-play, 64-yard touchdown drive. The stretch featured a steady dose of
Dion Bryant rushing the ball, along with runs by
Braden Bohannon and
Logan Klitsch. Bohannon also connected with
Malachi Williams on an 18-yard reception before Bryant ultimately rumbled to the end zone from seven yards out to trim the lead to 28-21.
The LVC defense then made its biggest stand of the game, forcing a three-and-out from FDU to get the ball back.
Shawn Fester delivered the biggest hit with a sack of quarterback of Ryon Thomas on third and three.
With 4:03 remaining in the game, LVC started its next drive on its own 41 and moved the ball across midfield with its rushing attack. A fourth-and-8 from the FDU 45 came up short and the Devils took over on downs and ran out the clock.
FDU scored on its opening possession and never trailed in the game, taking a 21-14 lead into halftime. Thomas finished the day with 317 yards passing and two touchdowns to fuel the Devils' offensive attack.
Bohannon rushed for LVC's first two scores of the day and tallied 119 yards on 17 carries. LVC amassed 271 yards on the ground. It's the second straight week with at least 270 yards rushing. Bryant finished with 76 yards and the touchdown, while
Tim Ervey carried eight times for 61 yards and Klitsch picked up 24 yards on four attempts.
