READING, Pa.–
Braden Bohannon scored three touchdowns and three more Lebanon Valley football players found the end zone as the Flying Dutchmen routed rival Albright, 47-9, in the Middle Atlantic Conference finale at Shirk Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 11.
LVC finishes the regular season at 6-4 (5-4 in the MAC), cementing its first winning season since the 2013 conference championship campaign. The Dutchmen will compete in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series for the second consecutive season against an opponent to be determined next Saturday, Nov. 18.
The Dutchmen showed intensity from the opening kickoff when
Jacob Horton forced an Albright fumble that
Evan Kutzler recovered. Three players later, Bohannon busted up the middle for 31 yards and the first score of the game. The junior quarterback punched in from one yard out on LVC's next drive for an early 14-0 lead.
Lion tamer
Tim Ervey, who set the LVC single-game rushing record against Albright two seasons ago, added LVC's next touchdown to set a 21-3 halftime score.
On the opening drive of the second half, Bohannon zigzagged 35 yards through Albright defenders for his third touchdown of the game. His 14 rushing touchdowns this season rank fourth best in LVC history, and his 20 overall scores is tied for fifth all-time.
Tanner Lewis and
Logan Klitsch then took over at quarterback and continued the offensive fireworks. Klitsch scored his first touchdown as a Dutchman, connecting with
Malaki Blair in the back of the end zone to cap a six-play, 48-yard drive.
Just a minute later, Kutzler picked off a pass to give the Dutchmen another short field. Lewis capitalized with a 25-yard touchdown run to push the margin to 40-3 at the end of the third quarter.
Lewis added one more LVC touchdown, finding
Rylee Stahl for a four-yard score. The two touchdowns in a game are a career best for Lewis.
