NEWVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley women's cross country standout
Lauren Bunke closed out an excellent career on Saturday afternoon with a great race at the NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Dickinson College at Big Spring High School in Newville.
Bunke finished 129th overall out of 292 runners with a time of 22:44.4 averaging 6:06 per mile on the 6,000-meter course. She was 137th at the mile with a time of 5:53.1. Bunke moved up 19 spots to 118th over the course of the next mile as she split 6:15.7 to cross the checkpoint at 12:08.8. Her 5,000-meter time was 19:12.3 as she moved up a spot to 117th before closing the final 1,000 meters in 3:32.2.
St. Benedict senior Fiona Smith won the Individual title with a time of 19:54.1. She finished over a minute ahead of the next finisher, Claremont Mudd-Scripps senior Natalie Bitetti, who crossed the line in 20:57.4. Carleton University won the team championship with 151 points followed closely by NYU with 154 points. University of Chicago was third with 156 points, CMS was fourth with 158 points, and SUNY Geneseo rounded out the top five with 205 points.
