Timochenko Records Double-Double Against St. John Fisher

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Evin Timochenko continued his strong start to the season with 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Lebanon Valley men's basketball team in a 101-72 defeat to St. John Fisher on Saturday on the first day of the Penn State Harrisburg Tip-Off Classic.

The Cardinals (1-1), a 2023 NCAA Tournament qualifier, got out to a 10-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game. Luis Garcia knocked down a jumper to put the Dutchmen on the board. Ryan Harder and Karson Pavlik scored in the paint to cut the lead down to 13-6 with just under 15 minutes to go in the half. The Dutchmen used a 5-0 run with three points by Timochenko and a jumper by Tyson Hofsass to make it 18-11. SJF built the lead back up to 19 with a 12-0 run spanning four minutes. The Dutchmen fought back and Harder had a layup and three-pointer while Timochenko putback an offensive rebound to bring the score to 36-22 with 4:21 on the clock. That was as close as LVC would get in the first half as the Cardinals built the lead back up to 19 before Jevon Griffin made a layup right before the half ended.

The Dutchmen came out the break on fire making their first three shots and cutting the lead back down to 14 at 50-36. Timochenko hit back-to-back layups to make it 54-40 with just under 17 minutes to go. Following a SJF bucket with a little over 16 minutes on the clock, LVC held the Cardinals scoreless for close to three minutes and were able to bring the lead down to 12 following an Evan Smith three. The Cardinals were slowly able to get the lead back up to 19 and led by 20 at 82-62 after a three-pointer with 6:37 to go. The Dutchmen battled hard over the final six minutes but were outscored by nine points as the Cardinals won their first game of the season.
