Fourth-Quarter Heroics Lead Football Past Alvernia

ANNVILLE, Pa.—A fourth-quarter touchdown scamper and a late defensive interception keyed the Lebanon Valley College football team to a 34-26 win over visiting Alvernia in Middle Atlantic Conference action on Saturday, October 28. LVC improves to 5-3 overall and 5-2 in the MAC. Alvernia falls to 0-8 overall and 0-7 in conference play.

LVC was holding a slim 27-26 lead midway through the fourth quarter when Dion Bryant broke a 31-yard touchdown run to stretch the advantage with 2:28 remaining.

Alvernia's last-chance drive stalled when Ryan Fink intercepted a Colin Payne pass near midfield to secure the win. It's the 12th interception by the LVC defense this season, and the only turnover generated on the day.

First-Half Highlights
LVC never trailed in the game, jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the opening minutes. After Alvernia started the game with a three-and-out, Jeremy Bours Jr. blocked the punt to give the Dutchmen the ball inside the Alvernia 20. Four plays later, Braden Bohannon crashed into the end zone from the one-yard line. A Tim Kissinger 29-yard field goal put the Dutchmen in front 10-0 early in the second quarter.

Alvernia cut the lead to 10-7 on its next possession before another Kissinger field goal made the score 13-7. Kissinger leads the MAC with 10 made field goals this season.

The Golden Wolves answered right back as Payne found Dachan Thompson for a 74-yard touchdown. LVC special teams came up clutch again, Makih Cooper blocked the extra point, keeping the game tied at 13-13 going into halftime.

Second Half Scoring
The Dutchmen pulled back in front with a four-play, 57-yard drive that culminated in a 33-yard touchdown run by Bohannon. The Golden Wolves hit a big play of their own, with Payne connecting with Joseph Perkins on a 60-yard scoring strike.

LVC recovered quickly, going up 27-20 on its next possession thanks to great field position set up by Deshawn Wilson's 34-yard kickoff return to midfield. Bohannon connected with four different receivers on the drive, ultimately finding Drew Campbell for a five-yard touchdown with 3:29 remaining in the third quarter.

Alvernia's Shaymarr Wright brought the game to 27-26 in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter. This time, it was Luke Ordway on LVC's special teams, blocking the point after attempt.
