Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Early Goals Fuel Men’s Soccer’s Victory Over Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Sophomores Aidan Smith and Nathan Prex netted goals during the Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team's 2-0 victory over Arcadia University on Tuesday Jean Lenox West Field and Delran Pavilion.

Lebanon Valley (12-1-3, 5-0-1 MAC Freedom) defeated Arcadia (2-8-6, 0-2-4 MAC Freedom) behind early offense and a strong defensive performance. The Flying Dutchmen set the tone early, jumping out to a two-goal lead by the 16th minute. LVC was then stellar defensively throughout the game, holding the opposition to just nine shots during the program's seventh shutout of the season.

The Dutchmen didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard, taking a 1-0 lead over the Knights 3:10 into the game. Smith got LVC's offense rolling with a shot that ended up in the back of the net, following an assist by Prex. Lebanon Valley then added another tally 15:27 into the contest, extending its advantage to 2-0. Prex sent a shot into the right corner of the net to put the program up by two.

The Flying Dutchmen were equally as impressive on the defensive end, limiting the Knights' offensive opportunities. LVC held Arcadia to just three total shots, without an attempt on goal during the first half. This defensive dominance helped Lebanon Valley take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Defense was also the story of the second half, as both squads managed to hold each other in check. Lebanon Valley limited Arcadia to six total shots in the stanza with a pair of shots on goal. The Knights recorded their first attempt on goal 74:17 into the game and sent another shot towards the net 7:30 later. Senior goalkeeper Dalton Fitterling saved both shots that came his way in the half, maintaining the shutout. The Dutchmen went on to preserve their lead during the remainder of the game, securing the victory.
