Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lasky Scores Twice for Women's Soccer Against King's

ANNVILLE, Pa. ­­– Sophomore Jordan Lasky netted two goals on Saturday for the Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team, as the squad dropped a close 3-2 game against King's College at Herbert Field. 

Lebanon Valley (5-6-2, 2-3-0 MAC Freedom) and King's (6-7-2, 2-2-1 MAC Freedom) battled all afternoon in a competitive conference matchup, during LVC's final regular season home game of 2023. The programs were aggressive on the offensive end from the beginning, as each team scored a pair of goals in the first half. The Monarchs then added a goal in the second stanza, which proved to be the difference in the game. 

The Flying Dutchmen opened the scoring 9:09 into the contest, jumping out to an early 1-0 lead. Lasky got the squad on the board by sending a shot past the diving attempt of the goalkeeper and into the right side of the net. First-year Abrielle Miller registered the assist on the first goal of the afternoon. King's responded 18:28 into the game, evening the score at 1-1 on a goal by Leah Sankey.

Lebanon Valley answered back 22:11 into the ballgame, taking a 2-1 advantage. Lasky put the program ahead with a shot that sailed into the back of the net, following an assist by senior Sierra Young. The Monarchs then tied the game at 2-2 before the end of the first half, as Brooke Finlay netted a shot 35:39 into the contest. The teams entered halftime in a stalemate.

Both programs managed to generate several offensive opportunities throughout the second half, as the squads attempted 10 shots each in the final 45 minutes. King's resumed the scoring 56:28 into the game, taking a 3-2 lead on a goal by Liz Porto. The Dutchmen continued to battle after facing this deficit, taking eight total shots in the 33:32 left in the game. Ultimately, neither team found the net during the remaining minutes. 

Inside the Box Score:
  • Lasky netted her second and third goals of the season, recording her first career multi-goal game. She led the team with five total shots in the contest.
  • Miller assisted Lasky's first goal of the afternoon.
  • Young was credited with the assist on the second time Lasky found the net. 
  • Lebanon Valley took 16 total shots with seven attempts on goal.
  • Senior goalkeeper Jocelyn Umana made nine saves during the game.

Lebanon Valley will return to action at 7 p.m. Wednesday, as the program will travel to take on Arcadia University at Jean Lenox West Field and Delran Pavilion in Glenside, Pa.
