ANNVILLE, Pa. – With a fall break shortened week, LVC Esports had just four matches scheduled during the week so this weekly report will cover the action from week two and three. Matches in this stretch featured both NACE and NECC competitions.
Rocket League — Rocket League continued their momentum from week one with a pair of wins. They started off week two with a quick 3-0 sweep over Purdue Northwest where the team outscored their opponent 15-6 over the course of the series. The team had a week long break, not playing another match until October 13. In that match they met a familiar faces in Alvernia University. The teams traded games and headed into the last of the five-game series tied at two. LVC prevailed in the fifth game to stay undefeated in both competitions. In week four, they will face Grand Valley State (NACE) and Carelton University (NECC).
Valorant — The Valorant team had just one match on the docket over the two week period. Valorant took on Marion Technical College where on map one, Breeze, LVC managed to get by with a 13-9 victory on the back of a 30-12 performance from Andrew Houck. This gave the team all the momentum they needed as they closed out a 13-11 win on Lotus to take the series 2-0. They are now 1-1 on the season with Robert Morris as their next opponent.
Rainbow Six — Rainbow Six faced the most action over the last two weeks with three total matchups. The first came against Oklahoma Christian in the NECC Champions Cyan B division. In this one, it was all OC as they took a quick 2-0 victory over LVC, sending the team to 1-1 in the league. Their next match, in NACE play, they faced Purdue Fort Wayne. The series was an exciting one as both teams battled to a map three through a 7-1 victory on Clubhouse from LVC and an 8-7 win from PFW on Oregon. This put the series down to a decider on Border that would also go the distance to a final round 15. LVC found a way to pull out a victory over PFW in the third map and won the series 2-1. The win featured a big performance from Brant Barr as the team looked forward to their final matchup of the week against Southern Mississippi. The series against USM ended up being a quick one with Barr again showing out as the team worked their way to a 2-0 victory to improve to 3-0 in NACE play. They will have a bye week in NECC this week and they will take on LSU Shreveport in more NACE action.
