Bartholomew Leads Dutchmen to Eighth Place Finish at Border Battle

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Coyla Bartholomew finished 14th overall out of 263 finishes to lead the Lebanon Valley women's cross country team to an eighth-place team finish at the Inter-Regional Border Battle on Saturday morning in Logan Township, New Jersey.
 
In a race that featured 17 regionally ranked teams including four other teams that are ranked in the Mid-Atlantic Region, the Dutchmen placed two in the top 20 and scored 252 points. Emory, who is ranked third in the south and 31st nationally, won the race with 37 team points putting their top five in the top 15. Misericordia, the third-ranked team in the Mid-Atlantic was second with 101 points. Host Rowan University finished third with 164 points. The Dutchmen scored 252 points and finished right behind University Scranton with 245 points. The Royals were ranked sixth in the Mid-Atlantic Region this week. LVC, who entered the meet ranked eighth in the region beat two top Metro Region teams in third-ranked Moravian by a tiebreaker and second-ranked Stockton by nearly 200 points.
 
"Our women have been consistently excellent so far this year," stated head coach James O'Brien. "I think we were able to prove to ourselves that the times we ran in September on Lock Haven's super-fast course weren't a fluke. We have a couple of things to continue to work on over the next few weeks, but I have high hopes as we approach the championship season."
 
Bartholomew finished strong passing eight runners over the final mile to finish 14th in 22:29.7. Lauren Bunke also finished in the top-20 with a time of 22:33.8 to finish 18th. Autumn Garges also had a strong last mile passing 12 runners and crossed the line in 23:24.8. Abigail Hunt was the third Dutchman finisher with a time of 23:59.1. Izzy Zwally rounded out the scoring with a time of 24:18.2 passing 18 runners over the final mile.

Up Next
The Dutchmen will close the regular season on Friday afternoon with the second home meet of the year at Union Canal Tunnel Park. The Dutchmen are expected to rest their top runners for the Run Fast Last Chance Invitational which will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Lebanon.
