ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's basketball had four double-digit scorers in a tough 92-87 double overtime defeat to Alvernia University on Saturday afternoon inside Sorrentino Gymnasium.
Alvernia began the game on a 9-2 run over the first couple of minutes. LVC fought right back and tied the game at nine with just under 14 to play on a
Collin Jones layup and free throw.
Payton Lewis knocked down a three to give the Dutchmen their first lead of the game. Lebanon Valley surged ahead for a 16-11 lead before a 8-4 run by the Wolves made it a one-point game with 9:38 on the clock. Jones and
Evan Smith scored the next seven points forcing Alvernia to call a timeout down 27-19 with just over eight on the clock. The Wolves chipped into the lead and evened the score at 30. Lewis knocked down a three and then
Luis Garcia found Jones for a layup giving the Dutchmen a five-point advantage. Lewis hit a step-back three with 11 seconds left to put LVC up 39-33 going into halftime.
Jones knocked down a three to begin the second half scoring. The Dutchmen took an eight-point lead with 16:38 on the clock following a Garcia bucket underneath. Alvernia went on a 10-0 run over three-minute span to retake the lead. The Dutchmen responded with a run of their own scoring the next 11 points to take a 59-50 lead with 9:12 left. Lebanon Valley led by 11 with 6:56 to go before the Wolves used a 12-2 run to cut the lead down to one with 2:28 to go. Alvernia took a 72-70 lead on a three with 27 seconds left and Garcia sent the game into overtime on a jumper with five seconds left.
The Golden Wolves took a 79-72 lead to start the first overtime session. The Dutchmen fought right and tied the game up at 81 on a pair of Garcia free throws to send the game into another extra frame. Alvernia began the second frame strong and took an 89-82 lead with 3:25 to go. The Dutchmen were able to cut the lead down to four before the Wolves finished the game at the line.

- Jones had another giant game with a career-high 31 points and a career-high 19 rebounds. He moved into the top 20 in program history in career points and top 12 in career rebounds.
- Garcia finished with 23 points, six assists, four steals, and four rebounds.
- Lewis had another strong game with 15 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
- Smith knocked down three three-pointers and finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
- The Dutchmen held a 50-46 rebounding advantage.
