CHESTER, Pa. – Collin Jones had 15 points and 12 rebounds to record his seventh double-double of the season for the Lebanon Valley men's basketball team in a 72-59 defeat at Widener University on Wednesday evening in Chester.
The Dutchmen got off to a strong start with a three-pointer by
Evan Smith, a jumper by
Luis Garcia, and a jumper by Jones to take a 7-0 lead three minutes in. Widener scored the next five points before Jones and Smith scored on back-to-back possessions to bring the lead back to six. The Pride hit a pair of threes to tie the game up at 11 with 10:50 on the clock. Widener then took their first lead of the game on an offensive rebound and putback. LVC tied the game back up at 17 and then Smith knocked down another three to give the Dutchmen the lead with just over seven minutes to play. Widener responded with a 13-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 30-20 lead. The Pride outscored the Dutchmen 11-6 over the final four minutes to take a 41-26 halftime lead.
In the second half Widener used strong shooting from the outside to increase their lead to 18 with 17 minutes remaining. Lebanon Valley cut the lead down to 13 with 13 minutes to go before a trio of three-pointers gave the Pride a 20-point advantage with 10 minutes on the clock. Garcia knocked down a driving layup and three on back-to-back trips down the floor to bring the score to 64-48. The teams traded 4-0 runs before the Dutchmen received five points from
Jevon Griffin and a jumper from
Justin Alquiza to cut the lead to 11 with 24 seconds left.

- Jones recorded his second consecutive double-double and seventh of the year pulling down 10 of his 12 rebounds on the defensive end.
- Smith knocked down two threes and finished with 10 points while Garcia had nine.
