Noah Griffin Breaks 3000 Meter Record

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Another program record went down on Saturday afternoon as Noah Griffin broke the Lebanon Valley men's indoor track and field 3000-meter record at the Moravian Indoor Meet hosted at Lehigh University's Rauch Fieldhouse.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES AND MAC QUALIFIERS
Griffin finished third in the 3000 with a career best time of 8:41.94. His time also qualifies him to run at the AARTFC Championships and is first in the conference. Vinny Ferrizzi was a MAC qualifier in the event running 9:13.09. Owen Linder had a great day in the sprints with a third-place finish in the 60 meters and a third-place finish in the 200 meters. Linder ran 7.26 seconds in the prelims of the 60 before running 7.27 seconds in the final. He then raced a 23.35 seconds 200 meters which is third in the MAC. Daniel Murtha was a new MAC qualifier in the 200 with a time of 23.97 seconds.
 
Alec Di Cesare and Elijah McKell qualified for the MAC Championships in the 800 meters. Di Cesare ran a time of 2:01.41 while McKell crossed the line in 2:04.84. Zach Reed continued his dominant season with another win in the 60-meter hurdles. The senior ran 8.57 seconds in the preliminaries before running 8.60 seconds in the final. Murtha was second with a time of 8.70 seconds in the prelims and 8.69 seconds in the final.
 
Ayden Stankus won the pole vault with a height of 4.26 meters (13'11.75"). Will Fisher qualified for the AARTFC Championships in the shot put with a toss of 14.25 meters (46'9") on his fourth throw.
 
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
Griffin broke the 3000-meter record by six seconds and becomes the second Dutchman in as many weeks to take down a school record. He beat the previous time of 8:47.89 that Garrett Santis ran in 2019. Joe Chukoskie ran a career best 9:04.03 to stay in ninth on the all-time top 10 list of the 3000. Linder made waves in the 60-meters and 200-meters. His time of 7.26 seconds moves him up to eighth from ninth in the 60 while his 200 time is ninth in program history. Murtha ran a career best time in the 60-meter hurdles to stay in seventh.
