Burdick Tallies First Career Power Play Goal Against Chatham

HERSHEY, Pa. – Mallory Burdick scored her first career power play goal for the Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey team on Friday afternoon in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of visiting Chatham University at Hersheypark Arena.

All three goals scored in the game were on special teams and in the first two periods of action. Chatham (8-9-1, 7-5-1 UCHC) opened the scoring in the first period scoring on the first power play opportunity of the game. LVC (6-10-0, 3-8-0 UCHC) fought right back and had shots by Cheyenne Wilk, Katrina Strauts, and Grace Mayer saved. The teams battled up and down the ice the rest of the period with neither squad able to light the lamp. The Dutchmen opened the second period strong with Tiffany Anderson, Ioanna Christou, and Strauts all having shots kept out of the goal by the Cougar goalie in the first two minutes of play.

Chatham increased the lead to 2-0 at the 17:05 mark of the period on a short-handed goal. LVC struck right back almost two minutes later as Burdick found the back of the net seven seconds before the extra-woman opportunity was set to end. Erin Yorke and Mayer had assists on the goal. The Cougars began the third period on the power play was had a two-woman advantage after a penalty called on the Dutchmen 23 seconds in. Shelby Guinard held strong in goal stopping all nine shots she faced during almost three-minute penalty kill.
