Grantham, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley volleyball team fought to the last point of five sets at Messiah on Wednesday evening but fell 3-2 in their MAC Commonwealth opener.
Lebanon Valley (2-1, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) took the lead in the beginning of the match winning set one 25-20 and set two 25-23. Messiah (4-0, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) took victory of the third set 25-17. Both teams fought to the end of the fourth and fifth set, but Messiah came out on top of both to take the 3-2 victory over LVC.
Inside the Box Score
- Taylor McInerney led the team in the kills category with 32 and in aces with six. The Junior also dished out 12 digs.
- Julia Rills and Kasey Thomas each led with 15 digs in the match up. Rill also tallied six kills, and three assists. Thomas additionally handed out four assists.
- Robyn Stepler notched seven kills on the evening.
- Ali Whitworth led the team in the assists category with 43, while also putting up two blocks.
Who's Next
The Dutchmen will stay on the road as they travel to Penn State Harrisburg to face the Nittany Lions on Thursday evening. First serve is slotted for 7 p.m. in Middletown, Pa.
