WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Lebanon Valley College volleyball team sits atop Pool A at the Worthington Classic after a pair of 3-0 wins on Friday afternoon on the campus of Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. The Dutchmen defeated Elmira in the opener before shutting down Washington College.
Game 1 vs. Elmira
Elmira (5-7) kept things close in the first set until the Dutchmen put the set away with five consecutive points to take the early lead with a 25-18 win in the first set. LVC used a 9-2 run early in set two to build a big lead on their way to a 25-13 set win. The Soaring Eagles put up a fight in the third set holding a 21-19 lead. The Dutchmen would close out the match with the final six points to finish the sweep.
Inside the Box Score
- Taylor McInerney led all hitters with 13 kills and three service aces.
- Julia Rill had five kills and seven digs. Ali Whitworth recorded 28 assists and four kills.
- Olivia Nace led the team with two block assists while Kasey Thomas had a team-leading eight digs.
- The Dutchmen had six service aces and five blocks in the match.
Game 2 vs. Washington College
The Dutchmen (7-3) won a battle of the teams that won their first games of the tournament in convincing fashion winning by set scores of 25-19, 25-13, and 25-14. Washington (7-4) had no answer for the hard-hitting Dutchmen and struggled at the net with LVC recording a season-high six total blocks on one solo block and a season-high 10 block assists
Inside the Box Score
- McInerney led the way once again with 19 kills. She added one service ace, four digs, and three block assists.
- Margaret Cole was a huge factor at the net with the one solo block and three block assists. She added five kills on nine attacks.
- Whitworth went over the 300-assist mark for the year with 35 giving her 333 on the season and 895 in her career. She also had three aces and one block assist.
- Rill had seven kills while Kelli Heffer added five.
- Nace had two more block assists and three kills. Thomas had a team-high 19 digs and one ace. Madison Kreider led the team with four aces.
- The Dutchmen had a season-best hitting percentage of .284.

Lebanon Valley will be back in action on Saturday against tournament host Gallaudet at 12 p.m. They will then play at either 2 p.m. or 4 p.m. against an opponent from the other Pool.
