Four Dutchmen Score In Victory Over Cedar Crest

ANNVILLE, Pa – The Lebanon Valley field hockey team had four different goal scorers in a big 4-1 victory over visiting Cedar Crest College on Thursday evening on Arnold Field.
 
The Falcons (1-3) got on the scoreboard first as Lauren Jackson poked a loose ball into the back of the cage in the ninth minute. The Dutchmen (3-3) rallied right back and Lexi Ward tied the game up a little over 90 seconds later. LVC took the lead with just over a minute to play in the first as Alana Antonello knocked a ball into the back of the cage. In the second quarter Hannah Shirey redirected a shot by Skylar Dise for a goal giving the Dutchmen a little bit of a cushion. Sorrell Long added a goal on a penalty stroke in the fourth quarter to set the final.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Ward scored her third goal of the year and leads the team with eight points. She has now recorded a point in four of the six games. Her goal was the seventh of her career and her 20th career point.
  • Antonello scored her first goal of the year and third of her career. All three of her goals have been game-winners.
  • Shirey scored her first goal of the year and recorded her 10th career point. Dise assisted on her third goal this season.
  • Long scored her first goal of the year and second of her career by sneaking a stroke inside the left post in the fourth quarter.
  • Kayleigh Kmet earned her third win of the year with two saves.
  • The Dutchmen had an 18-3 shot advantage in the game putting 15 shots on goal. They also had a 15-4 advantage in penalty corners. 
What's Next
Lebanon Valley will open conference play on Saturday on Arnold Field at 1 p.m. hosting York College of Pennsylvania. The Spartans come into the game receiving votes in this week's NFHCA National Coaches' Poll.
