Johnson and Lane Score Third Quarter Goals At William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. – Lebanon Valley first-year Gracie Johnson finished off a spectacular weekend with another goal while classmate Rebecca Lane also scored for the LVC field hockey squad in a tough 3-2 defeat at William Smith College on Sunday afternoon on the second day of the William Smith Classic.

The host Herons (4-1) scored three first half goals stating with a shot from the top of the arc by Libby Maxwell 2:05 into the game. William Smith added a goal near the end of the period and then scored in the second quarter to build a three-goal advantage. The Dutchmen (2-3) came out of the halftime break aggressive scoring two goals in the first eight minutes to cut the lead down to one. However, that was as close as LVC would get as the Herons played lock down defense over the final 22 minutes to improve to 3-0 at McCooey Field.

Inside the Box Score
  • Johnson scored her third goal of the weekend in the 34th minutes shortly following a corner attempt. The first-year collected a rebound off a shot by Skylar Dise and put the ball into the back of the cage. Johnson scored three goals on five shots this weekend.
