GENEVA, Ny. – The Lebanon Valley field hockey team took a huge 5-1 win over St. Lawrence in their first game of the William Smith Classic this afternoon.
Lebanon Valley (2-2) was the first to get on the board with a goal from
Lexi Ward, assisted by
Skylar Dise in the fifth minute. Less than five minutes later Dise assists
Gracie Johnson to make it a 2-0 game going into the second quarter. In the 26
th minute,
Sarah Leidich put a ball in the back of the net to give LVC the 3-0 lead going into halftime. The Dutchmen came out hot in the second half as
Emily Kline puts one away off a penalty shot to make it a 4-0 game. Johnson then capped off the win for LVC with a goal in the 38
th minute off an assist from Ward to make it 5-0. St. Lawrence (1-2) battled hard against the Dutchmen and was able to get one goal in the 47
th minute, but LVC still came out on top 5-1.
Inside the Box
- Johnson had a four-point game with two goals. Ward followed with three points, consisting of a goal and an assist. Dise had a two-point afternoon with two assists.
- Leidich and Kline each put up a one-point game with a goal each.
- Dise led LVC with four shots on goal. Ward, Johnson, and Kline each tallied two shots on cage.
- The Dutchmen out shot St. Lawrence 18-3, 12-1 on goal.
- Kayleigh Kmet and Devyn Goyette split time in cage, limiting St. Lawrence to one goal.
Who's Next
The Dutchmen will stay in Geneva, Ny. to face William Smith on Sunday in the second day of the William Smith Classic. The match is slotted for a 2 p.m. start.
