Lane and Taube Score First Career Goals To Lead Field Hockey To Opening Night Win

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Rebecca Lane and Amelia Taube scored their first career goals in the second half to propel the Lebanon Valley College field hockey team to a dominating 2-0 victory over Elizabethtown College on Arnold Field Thursday night in Annville.
 
The Dutchmen (1-0) controlled possession for most of the game but were unable to put one into the back of the cage until the 39th minute when Lane knocked in a rebound. LVC received an insurance goal in the fourth quarter as Taube knocked in a crossing pass from Lexi Ward in the 53rd minute.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Lebanon Valley won their season opener for the first time since 2017.
  • The Dutchmen outshot the Blue Jays 21-2 including 15-2 in shots on goal. LVC also had a commanding 10-3 advantage in penalty corners.
  • Ward recorded her 13th career point on her fifth career assist with a beautiful crossing pass from the right side across the goal in the fourth quarter.
  • Alana Antonello led the squad with five shots while Skylar Dise and Sorrell Long took four each.
  • Kayleigh Kmet earned her first career shutout in her first career start while making two saves.
  • The Valley has now won the last two meetings with E-Town and hold a 36-34-2 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 1952.
What's Next
The Dutchmen will head south this weekend for an early Saturday morning game against University of Lynchburg. Game time is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Shellenberger Field in Lynchburg.
