Men’s Tennis Rallies To Defeat Alvernia In MAC Commonwealth Semifinals

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men's tennis team advanced to the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Championship Match for the first time since 2018 with a 5-3 victory over Alvernia University on Wednesday at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
 
Fourth-seeded Alvernia (7-6) won two of the three doubles matches to take the lead in the match after doubles. The top-seeded Dutchmen (15-6) rallied and won the first three singles matches to take a 4-2 lead. The Golden Wolves won at number six singles to make things interesting with two matches still going on. Brady McLucas clinched the win at number five singles with Jeffrey Bauer in a third set at number two.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Justin Schuetz and Adam Warren were the first doubles pair to finish with an 8-2 victory at number one to give LVC a 1-0 advantage.
  • After a grueling doubles defeat, Brendan Byler made quick work in singles and tied the match up at two with a 6-0, 6-4 victory at number four.
  • Schuetz then gave the Dutchmen the lead with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at number one.
  • Adam Warren was the next to finish over on court three as he earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory to give the Dutchmen a 4-2 advantage.
  • Brady McLucas clinched the match at number five singles with a 7-5, 6-3 victory.
  • His 20th victory of the season moved him within one of the program record held by Sam Calabria who went 21-5 in 2011-12.
  • Jeffrey Bauer was the only match to go unfinished and was in the third set. Bauer dropped the first set before roaring back for a 6-0 victory in set two.
Who's Next
The Dutchmen will host the Championship match on Saturday afternoon after the women's match. Times of the matches have yet to be determined. LVC will face the winner of Stevenson University and Messiah University who had their match postponed to Thursday due to rain in Maryland.
