CHESTER, Pa. –
Mike Bulgia blasted a two-run homer to left field in the ninth and three Dutchmen had two hits as the Lebanon Valley College baseball team saw their rally fall short in an 11-8 defeat to host Widener University on Tuesday afternoon in Chester.
Widener (11-13, 3-2 MAC Commonwealth) took an early lead scoring four runs in the first inning. The Dutchmen (15-10, 3-2 MAC Commonwealth) responded with four runs in the top of the second to tie things up. LVC took their first lead of the game with a run on a
Shane Stossel double in the fourth. The Pride responded with one run in the bottom of the fourth, three runs in the fifth, and three runs in the sixth to take an 11-5 lead. Lebanon Valley put together a rally in the ninth scoring three runs before the Pride were able to get the final out for the conference win.
Inside the Box Score
- Dave Mangold had two hits in the leadoff spot and knocked in the fourth run of the second inning with a single to left.
- Ryan Murphy also had a two-hit game and scored two runs. He knocked in Ryan Petrucci with the Dutchmen's first run of the game.
- Stossel had a pair of hits including his RBI double in the fourth. Bulgia extended his reached base streak with his third homer of the year.
- Nico Santoro started the scoring in the ninth with an RBI double to left center scoring Andrew Miles. Miles scored two runs in the game.
- Jacob Horton and Malachi Duka had strong appearances on the mound in relief. Horton struck out two and allowed one hit in 1.1 innings while Duka struck out the side in the eighth.

LVC will wrap up their season series with the Pride on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at McGill Field.
