Men’s Tennis Locks Up Berth Into MAC Commonwealth Tournament

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men's tennis team became the first to secure a berth in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Tournament on Wednesday with a 9-0 win over Eastern University at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
 
LVC (12-5, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) won their seventh straight match and recorded their fifth sweep of the year. The Dutchmen have been dominant in conference play recording a 28-2 record in singles and 13-2 record in doubles play through five matches.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Justin Schuetz and Adam Warren earned an 8-0 win at the number one doubles. The duo have won their last six matches together.
  • William Harriger and Brendan Byler were 8-1 winners at number two doubles. The pair are 3-2 this season when playing together.
  • Jeffrey Bauer and Brady McLucas won 8-3 in the number three doubles flight to improve to 6-0 this year.
  • Justin Schuetz won his number one singles match 6-2, 6-1 while younger brother Michael Schuetz won 6-0, 6-0 at number six singles. Justin improved to 10-6 on the year winning his last seven matches. Michael is also 10-6 on the season.
  • Bauer was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at number two singles while Warren won 6-1, 6-4 at number three. Bauer is 11-6 this year and has won seven straight while Warren has won five in a row and is 11-4.
  • Byler swept his number four singles match 6-0, 6-0 to improve to 9-8 on the year. McLucas is 15-1 with his ninth straight win at number five singles winning 6-1, 6-3.
  • The Dutchmen are now 16-2 against Eastern and have won the last nine matches.
Who's Next
The Dutchmen have a big battle for first place in the conference on Saturday with a trip to Messiah University. The Falcons are tied for second in the conference with Stevenson at 4-1. A win would give the Dutchmen the regular season championship and home court advantage throughout the conference tournament.
