COLMAR, Pa. –
Rais Francis scored his first career goal and
Darion Benchich recorded his 20th career point in a heart-breaking 6-5 overtime loss at Arcadia University for the Lebanon Valley men's ice hockey team to finish the regular season.
Francis started the scoring just 52 seconds into the game off assists by
Blake Tosto and
Alex Borowiec. The Knights responded with two goals in the period to take a 2-1 lead. LVC came right back with a strong second period scoring three goals to retake a 4-2 lead. The teams battled back and forth in the third period as Arcadia scored twice late in the period to even the score up at five. The Knights then scored 55 seconds into the extra session to earn the victory.
Inside the Numbers
- LVC earned one point but were unable to move up in the UCHC standings where they finished eighth. The Dutchmen will travel to top-seeded Utica for the Quarterfinals.
- Borowiec and Francis scored a goal and recorded an assist each as the only multi-point recorders for the Dutchmen. 12 different Dutchmen recorded a point in the game.
- LVC had a 34-30 shot advantage in the game using a big second period where they out shot the Knights 18-5.
- The Dutchmen finished the regular season with six wins, the program's most wins since the 2018-19 season when they won nine games. That is also the last time LVC has played in the postseason.
Who's Next
Lebanon Valley will travel up to Utica, N.Y. on Tuesday to face second-ranked and top-seeded Utica University in the UCHC Quarterfinals. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Adirondack Bank Center.
